Out in Blue Blog Tour ~ Chapter Reveal Excerpt + Giveaway

OutinBlue_Banner

I am super stoked to be a part of the blog tour for OUT IN BLUE by Sarah Gilman. When I first heard about this series back in December I was immediately intrigued. I love stories about angels and hadn’t read any of the non-YA variety. Until now.

I loved meeting Wren and Ginger. This story had me instantly captivated. The lore was quite a bit different from some of the other books I’ve read. And the chemistry between Wren and Gin was electrifying.

The story instantly grabbed me. Right from those first lines. Ones that are revealed below in the chapter excerpt I have for my stop today. So be sure to check it out and the rest of the reveals on this tour because OUT IN BLUE is a fantastic read. One that I highly recommend.

And if you’d like to know what I think, check back next week for my review.

But in the meantime, don’t forget to visit all the stops on this tour for more awesome posts, interviews, reviews and chapter reveals and for more chances to win an eBook of OUT IN BLUE.

At the end of the tour author Sarah Gilman will be hosting a chat on the Return to Sanctuary Facebook page. So be sure to mark your calendars!

In a violent world where fallen archangels are hunted for their valuable plumage, Wren knows one thing for certain: the human woman who saved him from a poacher attack will die if she stays with him. The demon responsible for his parents’ gruesome deaths two decades ago pines for the chance to rip apart any woman who stands under Wren’s wing.

Wren doesn’t expect Ginger to stay by his side once she discovers his ability to drain life with a mere touch, yet she lingers. When an unusual talent of her own reveals the location of Wren’s father, Wren’s isolated world implodes. With the help of the demon protectors he’s sworn never to trust again, Wren risks everything to rescue his father, confront the demon who stalks his and Ginger’s every step, and claim his eternity with the most courageous woman he’s ever known.

Sarah Gilman started her first novel in third grade. She never finished that story, but never gave up the dream. Her fascination with wings also began at that age, when images of the ancient Egyptian goddess Isis captured her imagination and never let go. Now a paranormal romance writer, she employs her love of writing to bring the allure of winged creatures to the pages of her novels. Sarah lives in Vermont with her supportive husband and two spoiled cats.

OIBExcerpt

The tattoo of a bloody knife and scattered feathers caught Ginger Magellan’s attention. Her stomach curdled at the sight of the archangel poachers’ insignia. The bearer of the gruesome illustration ordered an espresso from the petite girl behind the bar.

“There isn’t a fallen archangel around here, is there?” The barista’s voice rose.

“Not for much longer, there won’t be.” He turned away and pulled out his cell phone.

From where she sat in the café, Ginger wrapped her hands around her coffee and stared into the dark brew, eavesdropping on the poacher’s conversation.

“The house has been abandoned for years, but it’s the right place. I saw him fly in the fog this morning. Devil has a balcony entrance on the third floor.”

Devil. Ginger hid a snort of disgust under a fake cough.

The poacher continued after a moment. “Yeah, white wings, black markings. It’s Wren, for certain. And not a Guardian in sight. He’s all ours.”

Ginger tensed. No Guardians? Why would an archangel be without his demon bodyguards?

“Meet you there in thirty? He’ll be back before the fog clears.” The poacher accepted his drink from the barista with a charming grin. She refused his payment and wished him luck. He blew her a kiss and left the café.

Clenching her teeth, Ginger tucked a twenty under her coffee and rushed for the exit without waiting for change. She stepped into the foggy autumn morning, shivered, and buried her hands in her pockets. Two police officers chatted next to their cruiser, but she turned and hurried in the other direction. Archangel poaching, though technically illegal, was applauded and encouraged by most of the human population. She couldn’t trust the police.

She’d warn this “Wren” herself.

Queen of Swords Blog Tour ~ Guest Post & Giveaway

For today’s stop on the QUEEN OF SWORDS Blog Tour, Author Katee Robert has shared her Top 10 Scenes from the book.

And if you haven’t yet been enticed to read QUEEN OF SWORDS from its description ~ which I’ve included below ~ or the teasers being revealed on this tour ~ one of which is right below the description ~ those top ten scenes should pretty much do it.

Hot. Kick-ass. Dark. Sexy. Electric. And those are just some of the words that come to mind.

About the Book

Goodreads description:

When the cards tell Ophelia Leoni she’s supposed to marry the Prince of Hansarda, the gunrunner grits her teeth and boards the starship that comes for her. It doesn’t matter if the ship’s commander is the gorgeous stranger she just spent a wild, drunken night with. As a Diviner, she’s painfully aware the cards don’t lie. Ever.

Boone O’Keirna knows Ophelia is trouble the second he sees the way she moves. Not about to let the deadly little hellcat marry his sadistic half-brother, Boone pretends to be the Prince’s emissary and kidnaps Ophelia. Too bad they can’t be in the same room without him wanting to throw her out an airlock–or into bed.

Even as they fight each other–and their explosive attraction–Ophelia and Boone sense something is wrong. Too much is going their way. Soon, they realize while the cards may never lie, the truth is sometimes hidden between them…and the future king of Hansarda is not one to take defeat lying down.

And now for just a little something to tempt you….

TEASER

Boone blinked. “Ophelia?” He went back to the bed, lifting her carefully with one arm while he pulled down the comforter with the other. Then he tucked her in, pulling the blanket up to her shoulders.

She looked younger when she was sleeping, more vulnerable, and it pulled at something inside him that he’d thought died long ago. It didn’t change anything, not really. Until Kristian was dead, Boone would spend his every waking moment making sure his half brother got that way. There was no time for a relationship that went beyond sex—even mind-blowing-forget-your-own-name sex. Especially not with a crazy Diviner who would kill him as soon as kiss him.

Queen of Swords Top 10 Scenes

10. The opening scene.

Ophelia muttering to herself and leaving her panties as something to remember her by…priceless.

9. Ophelia meeting Boone’s sister, Jenny, for the first time.

Both these women are forces of nature in their own right—finally getting them in the room together? Oh yeah, it’s all about the fireworks.

8. Pretty much every scene with Gerard and Marianna.

These two characters are one of my favorite couples—their dynamic was potent enough to have my editor demanding a book to show their story. They’re the perfect example of opposites attracting.

7. The scene with Jenny and Boone’s first mate, Cole.

These two fight worse than siblings (like, say Jenny and Boone) do. Cole’s kind of uptight and Jenny can’t keep her mouth shut…

6. The scene where Ophelia breaks Boone’s nose.

It’s so wrong! But so right! I know, I know, I’m a sick individual for thinking so, but COME ON.

5. The moment when Boone asks Ophelia if she trusts him and when she says she doesn’t, he walks away from her.

It wasn’t an easy thing for him to do (or for me to write), but Boone’s obsession with trust is one of those things that makes their relationship.

4. The bar scene, specifically: “And then the bitch punched her in the face.”

Honestly, the entire thing surprised me. I wrote that and actually laughed out loud because I hadn’t seen it coming in the least. Those moments really make the book for me.

3. The scene where Ophelia finally says to hell with her pride and admits that she wants/trusts Boone.

The woman’s pride is insane (just the way I like it), and her finally reaching out to him pretty much made me grin like a fool.

2. The final scene between Boone and Kristian.

Kristian, oh Kristian. The man is so delightfully twisted. He simultaneously makes my skin crawl and makes me want to like comb his golden mane of hair or something. Yeah…don’t judge.

1. The moment when Ophelia realizes she loves Boone.

I know, I’m a sap. Don’t tell anyone. It can be our little secret.

Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing your top ten scenes from your book. I have to agree that those are some pretty wickedly awesome scenes.

I especially like that they start right from the opening scene. It’s the perfect way to grab readers. It got me hooked!

And I promise not to tell anyone about your romantic side.

I’d like to also thank Entangled Publishing for including me on the QUEEN OF SWORDS Blog Tour. The tour has been amazing so far and I can’t wait to check out the rest of the stops!

About the Author

Katee Robert learned to tell stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her favorites then were the rather epic adventures of The Three Bears, but at age twelve she discovered romance novels and never looked back. Now living in Eastern Washington, she spends her time—in between ogling men’s goodies and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse—writing speculative romance novels.
